Kemmanagundi and River Tern Resort

Before I start jotting down my latest trip details, lemme state this clean and clear....This part of Karnataka has the most beautiful and breathtaking views...just amazingggggggggggggggg
Trip route:
Bangalore - Bababudangiri - Kemmannagundi - River Tern JLR - Bangalore

While approaching Kemmannagundi, we took the diversion on Tumkur road(left) after lord Hanuman's statue. This route is longer than the straight tumkur road that will take you to the place in 252 kms, but we took this route as we were told that the route is very beautiful and you will enjoy the drive. Well, well... at some point of time, we thought we lost our way, but then somehow reached Chikmaglur and from there some how found one signboard to Kemmannagundi...huh...till now, the route was not at all scenic...Once we took this diversion after Chikmaglur, the best part of the trip started. We missed the kemmanagundi signboard in the way(it was not that usual yellow signboard in Karnataka), written on a rock like structure and we went straight up..and reached bababudangiri...The place is just awesome...I mean much more than that...For a while, looked like we have reached Kashmir..quite cold and lush meadows...oooooooooooooh....amazing view...and the route has some many natural water springs...just amazing...

The road to reach Kemmannagundi was better than our stay there.

After spending a day here, we started our journey to River Tern Resort managed by Jungle Lodges and Resorts. The name of resort is derived from a nearby island, which is home for thousands of River Terns. The resort guys take guests near this island in a boat, early morning and stop there foe sometime, so that the whole scene can be enjoyed. And actually, the it is very interesting to see these birds preening, feeding and do so many varied activities. Saw a bird getting fish in its beak for its young ones!!!

The accomodation at the resort is superb, simply superb...We stayed at a cottage , which had a veranda overlooking the waters of the Bhadra reservoir. The place offers beautiful view of sunset over the backwaters....ahaaaaaaa

Coming on to activities at the resort: Wildlife viewing on a jeep ride into Bhadra Tiger Reserve, which is few kilometers from the resort. Then there are water based activities like sailing, kayaking etc. Other than these, one can go for trekking, bird watching, mountain biking and so on...

All in all, a wonderful place to spend your weekend and preferably a long one :)
